The Community of Writers is pleased to announce our Nonfiction/Memoir program. Those interested may submit memoir, narrative nonfiction, creative nonfiction, essays, and hybrid fiction/nonfiction forms.
Our week together in the Sierra blends nonfiction/memoir writers along with writers of fiction, in the belief that the two arts prosper by sharing techniques, for instance in narration and exposition. The Nonfiction/Memoir participants will meet in exclusive, program-specific morning workshops, then also in the afternoons will be exposed to panels, talks, and readings by fiction writers, as well as nonfiction writers.

The Book Proposal: A special afternoon seminar led by Samuel Freedman
Author Samuel Freedman will lead a special afternoon seminar on the crafting of a nonfiction book proposal, including his precepts for researching and writing long-form narrative and his insights on the current state of the publishing industry.
The Nonfiction/Memoir program is limited to 24 participants; the Writers Workshops as a whole will have 120. Please familiarize yourself with the Writers Workshops page. Applicants in all genres will use the same application form.
