Author Margaret Wilkerson Sexton elected VP of Board of Directors

We are pleased to announce that author Margaret Wilkerson Sexton has been elected to serve as Vice President of our Board of Directors. Margaret has regularly taught fiction at our summer workshops, and has served as a member of our board for since 2020. We are honored and delighted that she will be stepping into this leadership position.

We look forward to working with Margaret as we move into the next chapter of this organization. 

Margaret Wilkerson Sexton studied creative writing at Dartmouth College and law at UC Berkeley. Her most recent novel, On The Rooftop, was a 2022 Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick. Her second novel, The Revisioners, won a 2020 Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work and was a national bestseller as well as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Her debut novel, A Kind of Freedom, was long-listed for the National Book Award. She lives in Oakland with her family.
