Announcing the 2026 Season of the Writers’ Annex

The Community of Writers is pleased to announce the lineup for course offerings for 2026. This year, we hoped to make our course topics more diverse and less expensive. We have announced four new one-night courses led by esteemed Community of Writers staff Poets and Writers. We consider these to be akin to craft talks. Matthew Zapruder will be leading a course on how to read and understand contemporary poetry, Dana Johnson will teach a course on the craft of short fiction, Sands Hall will teach a course on Memoir, and Samuel Freedman will teach a course on the Narrative Nonfiction Tradition.

We have reduced the number of longer courses to two in the hopes that this will remove some of the barriers to entry for some participants. This year, our two long courses will be five sessions each, with one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Victoria Chang and Matthew Zapruder will teach a course on Federico García Lorca, and Brenda Hillman and Robert Hass will teach a course on William Butler Yeats.

We have also created two discounted collection passes: one for just the four one-night courses in the Spring, and one for the full 2026 season. Those who register for the full Season Pass will also automatically be registered for any additional courses announced in 2026. Learn more about the 2026 course offerings at the link below. We hope you will join!
