“Voices of Deoli”, produced by Joy Ma, premieres at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

A feature documentary that shares the untold stories of survivors from the Deoli Internment Camp in India, this timely and deeply resonant film sheds light on a nearly forgotten chapter of history in which around 3,000 Indian Chinese were unjustly imprisoned after the 1962 Sino-India war. As immigration policies and narratives around national identity continue to evolve, both in the U.S. and globally, the film offers powerful insights into how the past still echoes today. What happened in the past can happen again, and often does.
