THE LUCILLE CLIFTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS to attend the Poetry Program of the Community of Writers.

Former participants and staff poets who are friends and admirers of Lucille Clifton have donated this scholarship for a poet (or poets) to attend the Poetry Workshop who would not be able to attend without financial assistance.

Eligibility: These scholarships are intended for poets of color who have not attended previously.

Amount of Scholarships: $600 – $900.00

Upon acceptance, recipient will still be required to send in the $100 nonrefundable deposit by the deadline on the acceptance form.) As there are a limited number of these scholarships available, applicants who apply for one will automatically be considered for all appropriate scholarships and financial aid, if admitted.

To Apply: Along with your Financial Aid application, provide a paragraph titled: “Application for consideration for The 2021 Lucille Clifton Memorial Poetry Scholarship.” In this paragraph, and with Lucille Clifton in mind, please introduce yourself and tell us what you hope to get out of your week at the Poetry Workshop and why you would be a good candidate for the scholarship. Indicate your wish to apply for this scholarship in the “Special Scholarship” portion of the online application form, and paste the paragraph in the appropriate place on the online application form.
