J. L. Bautista has worked as a journalist, researcher, copyeditor, and documentary filmmaker. She lives in Berkeley, California, and travels widely. Her first published book, Fiestas, a collection of short stories, won the 2005 George Garrett Award in Fiction. Her novel The Road, and Nothing More was published in 2012.
