Jeanne Carstensen (’18) is a journalist and author. Her book, “A Greek Tragedy: One Day, A Deadly Shipwreck, and the Human Cost of the Refugee Crisis” (Simon & Schuster/One Signal, 2025) is a finalist for the PEN/Galbraith Award for Nonfiction. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Foreign Policy, Salon, the Intercept, The World on NPR, and other outlets. She lives in San Francisco.
