An important part of your stay with us is lodging. Participants may prefer to have us arrange their lodging or may find a place on their own. We have tried to provide housing options for every budget. Please read the detailed information below.
Arrange Your Own Housing
If you want to arrange your own housing, call (800) 731-8021 or gotahoenorth.com. We highly recommend the Palisades Tahoe Lodge, PlumpJack Inn, and The Olympic Village Inn, as well as The Village at Palisades Tahoe where we have a room block. Make sure they know you are with the Community of Writers when you inquire about rates. If you prefer to rent your own house, you might contact Tahoe Moon Properties or AirBnB.

The Community of Writers rents condominiums at The Village at Palisades Tahoe and a few houses in the valley for participants to live in during the week of the conference. If, when you are invited, you would like us to arrange your accommodations, you may choose to stay in shared units in The Village at Palisades Tahoe (first come, first served.) To help us place you in an appropriate condo or house, indicate if you have any special needs, concerns or physical requirements. Some of the houses are within walking distance; some require a drive. Every unit will have a kitchen and will be supplied with linens. You may check in after you register and receive your housing assignment on registration day. Pets are not allowed. (If you need to bring your pet, please arrange your own lodging.)

OPTION A:
Shared Condos in The Village at Palisades Tahoe
These condos are located in The Village at Palisades Tahoe. 3-4 participants share a condo. Participants may choose the room type they prefer. These condos are very convenient to cafés, stores and to our workshop venue. Music and other activities are planned by the Village such as BluesDays Tuesdays and an Art Festival, which could attract tourists. Please note the the prices we charge are a result of the prices we are charged by Palisades Tahoe (including fees and taxes).

OPTION B:
Shared Houses
In the past, our shared houses were the more affordable option for participants. However, due to COVID migration, our traditional houses have sold, have gone off the rental market, or have become much more expensive. For that reason, our choices are greatly reduced, as is availability. We are now in negotiations and will announce prices as soon as they’re settled.
Four to eight participants ordinarily share these older homes/cabins. Participants may choose the room type they prefer. Houses are usually a 10-20 minute walk away (or short drive) from workshop center. We always insure there are participants with cars in each house to help those without with rides as needed. For those rooms which share a bathroom, we will make every effort to have shared bathrooms with the same gender.

Camping
We do not recommend camping unless you have a camper. Those who camp will also need a car, as the campground location is not within walking distance of the workshops. For camping, call this reservation number: (877) 444-6777. This telephone number is for a reservation operation called Parknet/ReserveUSA, which handles reservations for the three main campgrounds nearest Olympic Valley. Granite Flats, Goose Meadows and Silver Creek sites are all on Highway 89 South of Truckee along the Truckee River. They’re good sites: safe and beautiful, and all within 15 -20 minutes’ easy drive to Olympic Valley. If you choose to stay in a campground, a camper with bathing facilities will be necessary; camping and participating in the conference are too challenging without one.
