For your convenience, the Community of Writers rents houses and condominiums in the valley for participants to live in during the week of the conference. There are shared units and a few private units as well. As choices are limited, you will be asked to rank your first 3 preferences. Complete your online Registration Form early to get your first choice. You are guaranteed a spot, though it may not be your first choice.

PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR YOUR HOUSING AT THIS TIME. Once we confirm your housing, you can send your balance. We will send you an invoice. (Your nonrefundable deposit, due now, will be sufficient.)

Your evening meals are included in the tuition; breakfast and lunch can be prepared in your house or purchased at several places to eat in Olympic Valley.

Olympic Valley is a four-hour drive from the Bay Area and a one-hour drive from the Reno-Lake Tahoe Airport. About half of our participants bring cars; the other half carpool or arrive by flying into the Reno Airport.

Try to plan your trip to arrive in Olympic Valley no later than 3:00 PM, Monday, June 22.

Plan your departure from the Valley for around 11:00 AM, Sunday, June 28. If flying, try to get a flight which departs Reno early afternoon, if possible, and make your airline reservations as soon as you can. Please see Acceptance Package for more details about shuttle times.

If you are flying into Reno, make sure to complete and submit the Air Travel Form (on Acceptance Info Page) before June 10th.

We will compile and send you a list 2-3 weeks before the conference for you to use to contact fellow participants to organize ride-sharing to the Community of Writers. Complete this section if you are interested in driving with ride-share passengers, or if you need a ride.

There is a train/bus depot in Truckee, near Olympic Valley. (The Yellow Line for Olympic Valley/Tahoe City every hour on the half-hour. This free service takes about 22 minutes to arrive at the Clock Tower in Olympic Valley or the east side of The Village. (Only a short distance from our Headquarters). Train/Bus Depot Details

The airport to use is the Reno-Tahoe International Airport in Reno, Nevada. We will be arranging airport shuttles for writers to use on June 22 and June 28.

We are committed to protecting the health of our participants, teaching staff, employees, and visitors. This summer, we will follow or exceed the established protocols from Placer County, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and ask that you do the same. CW will continue to assess the evolving public health guidance regarding large gatherings and adapt accordingly. We ask that participants be up-to-date with vaccinations. We do require that a COVID-19 rapid test be taken twice within the 7 days (one within 72 hours) before traveling to Olympic Valley. If you are able to attend, we must receive your nonrefundable deposit and with this form by the deadline. You may mail a check, or pay with a credit card or PayPal (a 3.20% service charge applies). If we do not receive your deposit by the deadline, your place in the workshop will be automatically forfeited and filled that day with someone from the waiting list.

If you want to avoid the service charge, select the first option and mail your check as soon as you can.

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOUR DEPOSIT BE?

In most cases you should send in $1000. This deposit is holds your space and goes toward your tuition and housing. Those who have been granted financial aid: you should pay whatever is indicated on your acceptance email.

Make sure we receive payment by the deadline.

Please allow time for your form to upload. Be patient and don’t navigate away until you have received a confirmation message. We will follow up with a confirmation email as well. If you don’t receive a confirmation email from us immediately, please get in touch, asap, as we may not have received your form. Thanks so much!
