Sands Hall

Sands Hall is the author of the recent memoir Reclaiming My Decade Lost in Scientology (Counterpoint); the novel, Catching Heaven (Ballantine); and a book of essays and exercises, Tools of the Writer’s Craft. Her stories and essays have appeared in The Iowa Review, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Lenny Letter, and The New England Review, among others. Professor Emerita of English and Creative Writing at Franklin & Marshall College, she teaches for the Iowa Summer Writing Festival and for the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley, among other conferences. A director and playwright, Sands is also a singer/songwriter and performs widely. She lives in Nevada City, California. Find out more at
