Some time ago, we changed the name of our fifty-year old organization by dropping the long-used common place name for where we hold our summer writing workshops. We recognize this name has a painful and derogatory legacy which has been disrespectful to the Native American community and goes against everything we stand for. For years writers have used the name as short-hand to refer to our Writing Workshops in the summer. We hope you will join us and choose not to use the name in that context. We are now known as the Community of Writers. For now, we will call the place Olympic Valley.
We are heartened to report that the iconic ski area where we have our workshops has also dropped that name. It is now be called Palisades Tahoe.
