Poetry Housing

Let us arrange your housing

The Community of Writers rents condominiums at the Village in Squaw Valley and a few houses in the valley for participants to live in during the week of the conference. If, when you are accepted, you would like us to arrange your accommodations, you may choose to stay in shared houses or in The Village at Squaw Valley (first come, first served.) To help us place you in an appropriate condo or house, indicate if you have any special needs, concerns or physical requirements. There may be men and women in the same unit. Some of the houses are within walking distance; some require a drive. Every unit will have a kitchen and will be supplied with linens. You may check in after you register and receive your housing assignment on registration day. Pets are not allowed. (If you need to bring your pet, please arrange your own lodging.)

Room types and availability are limited and are reserved on a first-request basis.
Prices may change slightly without notice.

Shared Condos in The Village at Squaw Valley
These condos are located in The Village at Squaw Valley. 3-4 participants share a condo. Participants may choose the room type they prefer. These condos are very convenient to cafés, stores and to our workshop venue. Our rental houses, located in Squaw Valley, are often the least expensive and a more social option for our participants. 4-8 participants share these older homes/cabins. Participants may choose the room type they prefer. Houses are usually a 10-20 minute walk away (or short drive) from the Village at Squaw Valley. We always insure there are participants with cars in each house to help those without with rides as needed. For those rooms which share a bathroom, we will make every effort to have shared bathrooms with the same gender.

Arrange Your Own Housing

If you want to arrange your own housing, call (800) 731-8021 or gotahoenorth.com. However we highly also recommend the Squaw Valley Lodge, PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn,  and The Olympic Village Inn, as well as The Village at Squaw Valley, . Make sure they know you are with the Community of Writers when you inquire about rates. If you prefer to rent your own house, you might contact Tahoe Moon Properties.

Camping

We do not recommend camping unless you have a camper. Those who camp will also need a car, as the campground location is not within walking distance of the workshops. For camping, call this reservation number: (877) 444-6777. This telephone number is for a reservation operation called Parknet/ReserveUSA, which handles reservations for the three main campgrounds nearest Squaw Valley. Granite Flats, Goose Meadows and Silver Creek sites are all on Highway 89 South of Truckee along the Truckee River. They’re good sites: safe and beautiful, and all within 15 -20 minutes’ easy drive to Squaw Valley. If you choose to stay in a campground, a camper with bathing facilities will be necessary; camping and participating in the conference are too challenging without one.
